Next year, Fox Run Elementary will be a Leader in Me school.

This video of Stone Oak Elementary, another school in our district, will show you an example of what a Leader in Me school looks like.

BOGO Book Fair Thursday, May 29

Fox Run readers,

Here's a chance to jump start your summer reading! We're having a Scholastic BOGO Book Fair on Thursday, May 29 from 8 am - 4 pm. One day only!

For every book you buy, you can get another book (same price or less) for FREE! And there will ONLY be books at this book fair. No school supplies, or posters, or toys.

Parents, if you send your student to school with a check payable to "Fox Run," they can buy books at the book fair. We'll give your student change in a baggie to bring home.

We also take credit cards and cash. This is a great opportunity to add more books to your home library!

First Grade Soil Centers

All of our first grade classes visited the Fox Run Library this week to investigate soil.

Like scientists, they investigated the properties of soil samples...

...they observed earthworms...

...they looked through a microscope, and they listened to an article about soil from PebbleGo on our computers.

Way to go, first grade!

Our Fall Book Fair is Coming Soon!

Hi fantastic foxes! Our fall Scholastic book fair is coming soon! November 4-8, from 8 am-4 pm you can shop for great books and support our school library at the same time!

If you click on that picture, you can see a preview of some of the books we'll have at our book fair, and choose ahead of time what you want for your student.

We also need parent volunteers. We couldn't even have the book fair without parent volunteers to help our students shop. If you can help us please click here to sign up for a 2-hour shift. Don't worry--we'll show you what to do, we'll be right there with you, and we'll have fun!

Thank you for supporting our Fox Run library!

Scholastic Book Fair Feb. 25-March 1

Fox Run readers,

The Scholastic Book Fair is back in our library! The book fair will be open Monday through Friday, 8 am  to 4 pm. We'll stay open until 6 pm on Wednesday evening for Math Night!

We have a Dr. Seuss photo booth set up so you can take a photo of your students with your smart phone.

Friday, March 1 is a special day. It's Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America day. Your student can wear a Seuss costume to school and pick up a free pencil or eraser at the book fair!

If you aren't able to visit our book fair, you can click here to shop at the Book Fair online.

Proceeds from the book fair support our school library programs, like Book Flix and author visits. Thank you for supporting our school library AND for encouraging your student to read!

Scholastic Book Clubs

Hi Fox Run readers!

For those of you who do NOT get Scholastic book club flyers from your child's homeroom teacher, I've set up a way for you to order online.

Why? Because Scholastic has some great bargains on some books your student will love to read. Many books are just $1, and lots of books are less than $5. They make super stocking stuffers or birthday gifts! Shipping to our school is FREE!

Even better...everything you purchase helps our library to buy more books for our students.

If you decide to buy a book as a gift, and you do NOT want me to deliver it to your student and spoil a surprise, just send me an email at cyoung12 at neisd dot net, and let me know. I'll hold the order for you in the library until you can come in and pick it up.

These books are such great deals...I don't want anyone to miss out! If your homeroom teacher is already sending home flyers, please order from him or her to help build up the classroom library.

If not, click on the book clubs graphic above, or go to www.scholastic.com/bookclubs and enter our code, L8WVD.

Happy reading!

Need Math or Science help?

Hi Fox Run friends!

Do you need help explaining something in math or science to your student? I just found a FREE site with videos to explain things like fractions and photosynthesis.

StudyJams was created by Scholastic. The site has songs and videos to explain math and science in ways that are kid-friendly and easy to understand. You don't need a username or password.

This is a great place for homework help, or reviewing what your student learned in school.

Check it out!
